Moffitt Cancer Center is searching for a Chief Medical Officer.  Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Physician-In-Chief, the Chief Medical Officer is the senior supervising physician within the medical staff structure. As such, the CMO provides senior leadership to Assistant Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), Clinical Service Chiefs, Hospital and Clinic Medical Directors, and Medical Staff Affairs. This position is the primary liaison between these groups, the medical staff and hospital management including risk management and patient relations.


The CMO will also collaborate with the Chief Quality Officer to ensure that Moffitt delivers the highest quality of care for its patients. In addition, the CMO partners with the VP Ambulatory and Virtual Operations to supervise outpatient operations and to develop and implement Moffitt's Virtual Health strategy as well as providing executive medical leadership for clinical capacity and expansion efforts including satellites, hospital and alternative service models.

 

 

Role Overview:

Serves as a primary liaison between the Medical Staff, Hospital Management, Chiefs of Service and Medical Directors.

Provides oversight and guidance to Risk Management; Medical Staff Services; Payer Strategies, Patient Relations and various Medical Staff and Hospital Committees.

Partners with the VP Ambulatory and Virtual Operations (VPAVO) to provide executive leadership for the outpatient clinics and virtual health strategies.

Provides executive medical leadership for clinical capacity and expansion efforts including satellites, hospital, clinics and alternative service models.

Oversees and provides mentorship to ACMOs.

Collaborates with the Chief Quality Officer to oversee quality of clinical services. In partnership with the VP MMG, coordinates medical service program developments with counterparts at USF. 

Performs patient care duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have or be eligible for a Florida Medical License and an M.D. or D.O. degree, and be board certified or board-eligible.
10 years as a medical practitioner with at least 5 years’ progressive experience in the management or governance of health care services in a private or institutional setting. 
Experience with developing and implementing strategic initiatives and performance improvement methodologies are essential.
