The Division of Hematology Oncology at Denver Health Medical Center is seeking a board eligible or board certified Hematology and Oncology Physician to join a collaborative, mission driven academic practice. This role provides the opportunity to deliver comprehensive hematologic and oncologic care while serving as a faculty member of the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Physicians in this role diagnose and manage disorders of the blood as well as malignant neoplastic diseases, providing expert care across the full continuum of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and supportive management. The position combines direct patient care, procedural practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic engagement.
Clinical Responsibilities
• Evaluate patients through comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing including imaging and biopsies
• Diagnose hematologic disorders and malignant diseases
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgical coordination when appropriate
• Prescribe and administer chemotherapy and oncolytic therapies
• Perform procedures including bone marrow aspirations and biopsies
• Administer intrathecal chemotherapy
• Provide supportive care including management of pain, nausea, inflammation, and fatigue
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high quality, patient centered outcomes
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
Academic Role
• Serve as a faculty member with the University of Colorado School of Medicine
• Participate in teaching and mentorship of learners as appropriate
• Contribute to the academic and clinical mission of the Division
Required Qualifications
• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited medical school
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Colorado
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in hematology and oncology
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong foundation in medical principles, procedures, and clinical decision making
• Expertise in pharmacologic agents used in hematologic and oncologic treatment
• Proficiency in bone marrow aspirations and biopsies
• Ability to administer intrathecal chemotherapy
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations and care teams
• Professional, tactful, and patient focused approach to care
• Strong organizational skills and clinical judgment
• Comfort with electronic medical record systems and clinical documentation
