Dartmouth Health and Dartmouth Cancer Center are seeking exceptional physicians to join and help lead a growing hematology program at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
These opportunities span inpatient hematology and cellular therapy, benign hematology, bleeding and clotting disorders, academic medicine, research, teaching, and senior physician leadership. Candidates will join a highly collaborative environment where multidisciplinary care, clinical innovation, education, and research come together to improve outcomes for patients across northern New England.
Current Opportunities
Hematology and Cellular Therapy Hospitalist
Join a busy and expanding inpatient hematology and cellular therapy service at Dartmouth Cancer Center. This position may be an excellent fit for either an internal medicine hospitalist with a strong interest in hematology or a hematologist interested in focused inpatient care.
The hospitalist serves as the attending physician for the inpatient hematology and cellular therapy service, generally working alternating one-week blocks. The position includes no required night coverage and no first-call responsibilities. A full-time hospitalist provides approximately 24 weeks of inpatient service annually.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct care for hospitalized hematology and cellular therapy patients
- Supervising and teaching advanced practice providers, residents, and fellows
- Leading a team-based approach to complex, subspecialized inpatient care
- Collaborating with outpatient hematology teams to support safe transitions and discharges
- Participating in clinical, academic, research, and teaching activities
Hematologist — Hemophilia and Thrombosis
The Dartmouth Cancer Center Hemophilia & Thrombosis Center is seeking a collaborative, full-time hematologist with expertise or interest in inherited and acquired bleeding and clotting disorders.
The Center is one of three federally funded Comprehensive Hemophilia Treatment Centers in northern New England and includes the region’s only specialized coagulation laboratory. The physician will provide outpatient and inpatient consultation while working closely with nursing, advanced practice providers, physical therapy, social work, and other clinical professionals.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and treating patients with bleeding and clotting disorders
- Providing outpatient consultations and inpatient consultative care
- Caring for patients with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and other rare bleeding disorders
- Teaching fellows, residents, and medical students
- Participating in coagulation conferences and regional activities
- Contributing to quality improvement and clinical research
- Coordinating holistic, multidisciplinary patient care
This position does not include inpatient malignant hematology service requirements. An academic appointment through the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth is available at a rank commensurate with qualifications.
Section Chief of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancy
Dartmouth Health, Dartmouth Cancer Center, and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth are conducting a national search for a nationally prominent physician-scientist to serve as Section Chief of Hematology and Hematologic Malignancy.
The Section Chief will provide strategic, academic, clinical, and administrative leadership during a period of significant opportunity in hematology and hematologic malignancy. The successful candidate will guide the growth of clinical programs, translational research, education, faculty development, and regional collaboration.
Key leadership priorities include:
- Establishing a compelling vision for the future of the Section
- Expanding translational and clinical research
- Strengthening benign and malignant hematology programs
- Advancing clinical quality, safety, and operational performance
- Recruiting, mentoring, retaining, and promoting exceptional faculty
- Supporting the continued development of the hematology/oncology fellowship
- Aligning research, education, clinical operations, and community outreach
- Building partnerships across Dartmouth Health, Dartmouth Cancer Center, the Department of Medicine, and the Geisel School of Medicine
- Representing the Cancer Center in regional and statewide collaborations
The Section Chief will join a research environment with more than 256 active projects, 145 Cancer Center members, and over $68 million in annual grant funding from federal and other sources.

Qualifications
Qualifications vary by position. Candidates should generally possess:
- An MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree
- Board certification or board eligibility in the specialty required for the individual position
- Eligibility for medical licensure in New Hampshire
- Strong clinical, communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
- A commitment to evidence-based care, education, teamwork, and an inclusive professional environment
The Section Chief opportunity requires eligibility for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level and a distinguished record of physician leadership, research, clinical excellence, and faculty development.
