The Northwell Health Cancer Institute seeks a full-time, board-certified physician to oversee the clinical performance of and provide the overall strategic direction for the Northwell Health medical oncology and hematology program in Manhattan. We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished leader in oncology care and translational and clinical research who will develop and grow our faculty, enhance patient care and lead innovative, cutting-edge research initiatives.

This position will serve as Director of Hematology and Medical Oncology for the Northwell Cancer Institute in Manhattan, reporting to the Deputy Physician-in-Chief of Medical Oncology for the Northwell Cancer Institute, and will also hold the role of Chief, Hematology & Medical Oncology at Lenox Hill Hospital, reporting to the Chair of Medicine.  The Director will oversee the clinical, research, educational and administrative pursuits of the Hematology & Medical Oncology program in Manhattan, which includes 15 Hematologic Oncologists, a fellowship program in hematology and medical oncology (two fellows per year) and a clinical team of nurses, ACPs, research staff, practice staff and supportive care professionals that help achieve excellence in comprehensive clinical care and research.

The Hematology & Medical Oncology program in Manhattan spans inpatient care at Lenox Hill Hospital and outpatient care and infusion at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, both located in the highly sought-after Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.  In 2027, the outpatient program will move to the newly built, state-of-the-art Victoria and Lloyd Goldman Pavilion, a 15 story, 200,000 square foot facility located one block from Lenox Hill Hospital.  This new setting will offer boutique, patient-centered care with the latest in clinical, therapeutic and digital innovation.  The Cancer Institute in Manhattan has achieved several national accreditations and designations, including the Commission on Cancer from the American College of Surgeons, the NAPBC and NAPRC designations, and will be welcoming an exciting partnership with START JV, a world renowned incubator for early phase clinical trials, that will be opening a program onsite in the Goldman Pavilion. 

The Director of Hematology & Medical Oncology will have the critical role of program and faculty development, in order to inspire innovative, best-in-class approaches to cancer care delivery, therapeutic advancements and patient experience.  Working closely across leadership in the Metro Market, Lenox Hill Hospital and across the Cancer Institute, the Director will serve as the lead for programmatic initiatives across Hematology & Medical Oncology in Manhattan, will contribute to a strong, collaborative culture across the division, and will serve as a mentor to both junior faculty, fellows and other trainees.  Finally, the Director will work across the division to develop a clinical and research program that prioritizes innovation, differentiation and patient-centered care.  

The Cancer Center at Lenox Hill Hospital is part of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, which treats more than 16,000 patients with cancer, giving patients access to the services of more than 400 Cancer Institute physicians in more than 25 sub-specialties. The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research is home to Northwell Health’s research and is an epicenter for scientific discovery and innovation, including basic science and clinical research in molecular medicine, genetics, oncology, brain research, mental health, autoimmunity, and bioelectronic medicine. In 2015, Northwell Health and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory began a strategic affiliation to accelerate cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. This collaboration offers the ability to deliver cancer therapeutics to patients throughout the region, while also meeting the comprehensive medical and surgical needs of those with cancer and at risk of the disease.
