Research Professor (part-time) – Hematology Oncology #MED420

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 per year

The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology, seeks a part-time Research Professor at 20% effort who will conduct academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The Research Professor would lead the lab and be tasked with overseeing the scientific output within the lab, bringing new techniques to the lab (e.g. molecular engineering, informatics), growing the research into new directions, managing personnel, assisting with grant and manuscript submissions, and managing collaborative efforts with other laboratories within University of Chicago and externally. It is also anticipated that the appointee will conduct research experiments broadly focused on developing and interrogating novel therapies for prostate cancer. These experiments would include molecular engineering/alteration and interrogation of prostate cancer cell line models, RNA-seq/ChIP-seq, etc. Compensation is dependent upon qualifications. This position is not benefits-eligible. 

The appointee will join a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation. Opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Biological Sciences Division, other academic units of the University of Chicago, and UChicago Medicine are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park.

Prior to the start of employment, applicants must: 1) hold a doctoral degree or its equivalent in cancer biology, immunology, or a related field of study and 2) have completed postdoctoral training.
