Innovative Hematology, Inc. (IHI) is seeking an Adult Hematologist with a dedicated interest and expertise in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) to join our nationally recognized comprehensive care team. This is a unique opportunity to practice at one of the foremost centers for classical hematology in the United States and to shape the future of adult SCD care for patients across Indiana and beyond.

Position Overview

The Adult Hematologist – Sickle Cell Disease will serve as a key clinical leader responsible for:

·     Diagnosis and longitudinal management of adults with Sickle Cell Disease, as well as other benign hematologic disorders (hemostasis, thrombosis, anemias).

·       Developing, coordinating, and implementing SCD-focused clinical programs, education, research, and community engagement initiatives.

·       Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of >20 physicians and >20 advanced practice providers.

·       Participating in IHI’s collaborative inpatient services through our partner hospitals.

·       Sharing on-call responsibilities, including occasional night and weekend coverage.

·       Optional participation in medical student, resident, and fellow education.

 

Qualifications

Successful candidates will:

·       Have completed—or be on track to complete by July 2026—fellowship training in adult hematology/oncology

·       Hold or be eligible for unrestricted Indiana medical and DEA/CSR licensure

·       Be board certified in hematology (or eligible)

·       Demonstrate strong commitment to patient-centered care for individuals living with SCD

Our Sickle Cell Program

IHI provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care tailored to the unique needs of children and adults living with Sickle Cell Disease in an integrated lifespan program.

·       Dedicated Sickle Well Clinics available both on-site and at outreach locations

·       Co-located services including pain management support, mental health, reproductive health, social work, physical therapy, pharmacotherapy, and genetic counseling

·       Established partnerships with regional hospitals for coordinated inpatient care

IHI is a lifespan center, with a well-developed pediatric Sickle Cell Disease program with dedicated pediatric APPs and hematologists, along with a transition program to assist in the change from pediatric to adult providers and care for this patient group.
