University Hospitals, Seidman Cancer Center (UHSCC), Cleveland, OH invites applications for a full-time Classical Hematologist at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor as Section Leader for Hematology.
University hospitals is the leading teaching hospital in Northeast Ohio and is closely affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. The Classical Hematology program at UHSCC has a strong record of research and patient care in the field of hemostasis, thrombosis, and vascular biology. It also is the designated Hemophilia Treatment Center for Northeast Ohio established by the Hemophilia Act of 1973. In the program, there are approximately 200 pediatric patients and 350 adult patients. In addition, UHSCC has a strong hospital-supported Sickle Cell Anemia program for 400 patients.
Physicians in the hemostasis/thrombosis/vascular biology community at the UHSCC interact with investigators in the field on the CWRU campus in Bioengineering, Pharmacology, Veterans Administration Hospital, and Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic. Likewise, there is an active Vascular Medicine Program in Cardiology at University Hospital as well as the Harrington Cardiovascular Research Center. Classical hematology is conjoined with Pediatrics at UH’s Rainbow Babies Hospital through combined Classical Hematology Conference, the Hemophilia Treatment Center and the Sickle Cell Anemia program. Clinical trials support of Classical Hematology is available through the UHSCC Clinical Trials unit. Collaborations with Malignant Hematology and Cell Therapy and Medical Oncology in the UHSCC are encouraged.
The ideal candidate will have a national reputation as either a laboratory or clinical research investigator in Classical Hematology. The applicant should have demonstrated administrative skills to lead program development and preeminence. Support will be provided for the further development of the clinical and laboratory research programs and for recruitment.
A competitive salary is offered commensurate with experience and includes an incentive plan that rewards research funding success and/or clinical productivity. As part of the recruitment, support will be provided for the individual’s and program’s development for laboratory and clinical research and the addition of more faculty.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should be board-certified or board-eligible in Hematology or equivalent. The final candidate will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree in the form of original transcript.
