The Department of Veterinary Biosciences (VBS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at The Ohio State University (OSU), is seeking applicants for a research-intensive tenure-track faculty position in Comparative and Translational Oncology with emphasis on bladder and genitourinary cancer research. This position for faculty who have evidence and impact consistent with appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor is one of three ongoing recruitments as part of a cluster hire in conjunction with the OSU College of Medicine’s Department of Urology, and the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) to enhance our collaborative and comparative approach to this key thematic area of cancer and cancer-related research.
The full-time tenure track faculty position is expected to be an outstanding scientist with an established comparative and/or translational research program. The CVM has established the Signature Program in Comparative and Translational Oncology as a central focus of the college. The successful candidate will also have the unique opportunity to develop interdisciplinary collaborative research efforts in animal and human medicine that leverage expertise at the CVM, including the CVM Clinical Trials Office, the OSUCCC, College of Medicine, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital with the goal of advancing the understanding of bladder and genitourinary cancer biology and genetics and discovery of new therapeutic approaches to ultimately impacting veterinary and human patient outcomes. Applicants will be expected to engage in collaborative efforts that will enhance and expand existing partnerships and incorporate training/mentorship of graduate students and post-docs. Requirements include a DVM or equivalent degree with a demonstrated record of, or high potential for, extramural funding and an active and impactful publication record. The successful applicant must also possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate effectiveness in teamwork. This position will be an endowed chair in Comparative and Translational Oncology and Biomedical Research.
