The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a faculty candidate for the role of directing Cellular Therapeutic Laboratory. Successful candidates should have a MD or MD/PhD degree with a board certification in pathology and laboratory medicine or other related subspecialities. Preferred candidates should have a strong interest or have extensive training and publication records in the field of Cellular Therapies. An active research program with external funding is desirable but not required. This is a full-time faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant, or Associate, or Professor either on tenure track or non-tenure clinical/scholar track, depending on qualifications and experiences.
We are experiencing rapid growth year over year in clinical trial protocol, tests, and procedures. Our program currently performs 300 hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation on an annual basis, and over a hundred of CAR-T treatments per year, many were performed based on clinical trials. Our National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center is the region’s only certified CAR-T facility offering 6 FDA approved CAR-T therapies that provide rich opportunities for clinical and translational research, both within the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics within the medical center.
