The University of Vermont Health Network and Robert Larner College of Medicine are conducting a search to appoint the next Chief of Division of Hematology and Oncology.

The Division Chief of Hematology and Oncology will lead a division committed to excellence in clinical care, research, and education. As Chief, the physician leader will ensure delivery of high-quality care and services to patients, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, develop and implement strategic initiatives, and contribute to the overall growth and success of the Division. The Chief will set strategic goals and objectives aligned with the department's mission and vision, including the opportunity to expand cancer care across a rural geographic footprint. Specific duties include fostering the career development of faculty and other professionals, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork and excellence in patient care, fostering the academic mission of the Division and Department, and working closely with the leadership of the UVM Cancer Center to obtain NCI designation. The Division Chief will advocate for hematology and oncology priorities, grow programs, and expand upon the vision and capacity.

The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology is the academic and clinical leader in the care of patients with blood disorders and cancer in Vermont and northern New York. The division includes 26 physicians based at the University of Vermont Medical Center, 7 physicians based at network sites, 10 research faculty and 22 advanced practice providers.  The combined Hematology/Medical Oncology fellowship training program is ACGME-accredited and, beginning in July 2025, will initiate a 3-year expansion from six to nine fellows and incorporate specific training in rural cancer care delivery.

The Chief should possess a proven track record across multiple areas, including individual scholarship, collaborative clinical leadership, program development, educational excellence, successful faculty recruitment and career development, and community engagement. A strong emphasis on working with interdisciplinary teams and collaborative research is essential.  This critical position requires an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader dedicated to bringing this Division and Cancer Center to the next level of excellence.
