Academic clinicians with a focus on classical (non-malignant) hematology and interest in health sciences or clinical trial research are invited to apply at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Our faculty lead cutting-edge basic and translational research programs in classical and malignant hematology, cellular therapy, cancer biology, cancer prevention and screening, and medical oncology. The University of Wisconsin is seeking applicants for a full-time professor, associate or assistant level professor (CHS) hematologists. The Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Palliative Care at UW-Madison includes 68 faculty, 31 Advanced Practice Providers, and 16 Fellows.
Duties include 60% direct patient care at the Eastpark Medical Center, our new 470K sq ft ambulatory care center and UW Health's main campus, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service attending; proactively supporting efforts to improve diversity in clinical trial participants; 40% protected time to develop and teach a research or education program and to engage in related scholarly activity.
The faculty provide direct patient care, lead dedicated disease-specific research staff and have access to substantial programmatic research funds. The University of Wisconsin has multiple well-established classical hematology initiatives, including an endowed comprehensive sickle cell disease program, a comprehensive bleeding disorders program, and an inherited bone marrow failure program. The sickle cell disease program is a member of the National Alliance of Sickle Cell Centers. The university also hosts the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), funded by a National Institutes¿ of Health Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). ICTR can provide opportunities for junior and mid-career faculty to develop and nurture research skills and to provide mentorship. The division also holds a hematology-specific T32 training grant to mentor pre- and post-doctoral candidates pursuing hematology research. Outside of the division, faculty can collaborate with university colleagues through the Wisconsin Blood Cancer Research Institute (WBCRI) and the Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC).
The candidate will have also access to many shared resources and opportunities to collaborate with basic, translational and clinical researchers at the NCI-designated UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), the VA Hospital and throughout the UW-Madison campus. Administrative duties including e-Consults, committees and community service may be added as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.
