The Department of Pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in conjunction with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Manning Family Children’s seeks a physician with expertise in childhood malignancies and/or cellular therapies including stem cell transplantation. The physician will help continue the growth of the robust cancer treatment program. A commitment to academic medicine and scholarship is expected. A clinical focus in neuro-oncology and/or late effects will fit the needs of the program and the best qualified individual will be given priority. The Department of Pediatrics at LSUHSC is committed to providing excellence in education, clinical care, and research. The selected candidate will become actively involved in all aspects of teaching including medical students, residents, and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellows. Oversight of clinical trials at Manning Family Children’s as well as the implementation of new trials, membership in smaller sub-specialty organizations, and dissemination of knowledge through presentations and publications are other expectations. The Department of Hematology/Oncology is located predominantly at Manning Family Children’s. Manning Family Children’s is home to the Departments of Pediatrics of both LSUHSC and Tulane University, which allows opportunities for cooperation. Manning Family Children’s is a 263-bed, not-for-profit pediatric medical center offering a comprehensive range of services for children from birth to 21 years, with more than 600 pediatric providers and 3,000 employees solely dedicated to the care of kids.
