The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology/Hematology in Memphis, TN is seeking candidates for a Full time, Assistant Professor position. This is a non-tenure track position. Teaching responsibilities in addition to staffing admission include supervising procedures when needed, being available for resident questions regarding cross-cover or admissions and giving feedback. This individual will serve as an attending physician in the Division of Medical Oncology/Hematology, with focus on the care and treatment of patients with malignant hematologic conditions, with a specific interest in lymphoma is encouraged. This includes outpatient care and inpatient attending responsibilities.

Candidates' primary responsibility in this position will be to provide outstanding patient care, with the expectation of seeing patients in the malignant hematology. As part of this role, they will work closely with colleagues in other cancer subspecialities and attend multidisciplinary tumor board conferences, as well as supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows who rotate through the clinic.

This individual should be motivated to participate in the expansion of the UTHSC Cancer Center Clinical Trials portfolios in the study of hematologic malignancies.

This position will teach medical students, residents, and fellows. Responsible for holding clinic sessions and for inpatient attending duties at clinical practice sites. Participate in Department academic activities, divisional/departmental meetings. May lecture or conduct demonstrations or teach across UTHSC health science schools.  Explore and develop appropriate research collaborations both within and outside the UTHSC Cancer center and departments and schools. Write and submit scientific papers and abstracts, as well as submit grant proposals (if applicable). Conduct and develop clinical and translational trials related to the treatment of hematologic malignancies. Will assist in the expansion of clinical trials portfolio as an investigator and collaborator.

Basic Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must have an MD degree, should include a demonstrated track record of excellence in patient care, research, peer-reviewed publications, and the potential to serve as principal investigator of cutting-edge clinical trials.

  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology is required.
  • Active or eligibility to obtain a Tennessee Medical License.

Departmental Preferences:

This position will consist of approximately two-thirds patient care with training Oncology/Hematology fellows, and the remaining one-third dedicated to teaching and research. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of equal employment opportunity and affirmative action.
