The Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care seeks a physician scientist to advance patient care through research collaborations.  The physician scientist will be expected to engage in active collaborative research, build clinical and/or translational research in the division and obtain/maintain independent extramural funding.  This opportunity is also available for an Academic Clinician.

 Duties

Duties include direct patient care, including ambulatory, inpatient and consult service; (25-30%). Includes protected time (70-75%) to develop a research or teaching program and to engage in scholarly activities.  Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows within the context of your clinical practice. Proactively enhancing and supporting efforts regarding diversity in clinical trial participants 

 Experience in clinical, translational or basic science research, with a track record of successful publications in peer reviewed journals, strong written and verbal communication skills, commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, evidence of excellence in teaching and current or high potential to obtain extramural funding. Through these efforts, the ability to enhance national recognition for our division and the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

Clinical research is conducted in the UWCCC by 18 multi-disciplinary Disease Oriented Teams and is supported by the UWCCC Clinical Research Central Office on the main campus. Over 170 UWCCC investigators regularly enroll patients to therapeutic intervention trials at our UWCCC clinical sites. UW is an affiliate member of the BMT Clinical Trials Network and a member of the NCCN, ECOG- ACRIN, Alliance, BigTen Cancer Research Consortium, Wisconsin Oncology Network (WON) and Wisconsin Association of Hematology and Oncology (WAHO).
