The Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Section of Benign Hematology, is recruiting for a clinical faculty member with commitment to a career in benign or non-malignant hematology.

Physicians with experience in clinical research, especially in cancer associated thrombosis, are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must show evidence of scholarly activity, scientific accomplishment, and skill in writing and communication. Faculty rank and protected research time will be provided consistent with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in benign hematology research and scholarly activity that will enhance the academic environment of the institution. The selected candidate will also be expected to become familiar with appropriate funding mechanisms to support cancer-related benign hematology research and to assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop programs, perform research, and complete scholarly activities in keeping with the goals of the Section. 

The Section of Benign Hematology and MD Anderson Cancer Center offer many opportunities in a growing and vibrant research, clinical, and training environment, including developing multidisciplinary collaborations with other clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution, as well as engaging in established collaborative groups throughout the Texas Medical Center. The successful candidate will have a MD, or MD and PhD degrees, having demonstrated the ability to practice internal medicine generally and classical hematology in particular. Candidates must be American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certified clinicians in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Hematology. Training in medical oncology is encouraged but not mandatory. Refer to the Benign Hematology section page for additional information about the department and its programs.
